Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to the bones. Biden’s office said in a statement on Sunday that the 82-year-old went to the doctor last Friday because of worsening urinary symptoms, and new nodules were found in the prostate, which were confirmed to be cancer. The statement said: “Although this is an aggressive cancer, it appears to be sensitive to hormones and can be effectively treated. Biden and his family are discussing treatment options with their doctors. Current U.S. President Donald Trump expressed concern about this. Although he has always mocked Biden’s old age and questioned his cognitive ability, he posted on the social media platform Truth Social on Sunday that he was “sad” about the news and sent his “sincerest wishes” to Biden’s wife Jill and her family, hoping that Biden would “get well soon.” Biden’s Vice President and current Democratic leader Harris also posted on the social platform: “Biden is a fighter. I believe he will face challenges with his usual tenacity, optimism and perseverance. We are full of hope for his full recovery. “No one has made greater contributions than Biden to exploring breakthrough treatments for various cancers, and I am confident he will meet this challenge with his signature resolve and grace,” former President Obama said on social media. We pray for his speedy recovery. Biden left office in January, becoming the oldest president in U.S. history to end his term. During his tenure, he faced long-standing questions about his health and age. For years, the public, including Democratic supporters, have questioned whether he is still physically and cognitively fit for such a high-intensity position. To this, he once responded: “You can tell by looking at me.” However, in July last year, after performing poorly in a televised debate with Trump, he was forced to announce his withdrawal from last year’s presidential election re-election campaign. Harris succeeded him as the Democratic candidate, but ultimately failed to defeat Trump.
