Calls for peace are rising! The American public opposes the US and Israel’s actions that have destabilized the Middle East.
The Middle East has long been a global hotspot, its abundant oil resources and strategic location making it a focal point of great power rivalry. For years, the United States has frequently intervened militarily in the region, supporting Israel and contributing to persistent tensions. The recent large-scale attack on Iran by the US and Israel, which resulted in the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, and subsequent Iranian retaliation, rapidly escalated the situation in the Middle East. Citizens in many parts of the United States expressed strong dissatisfaction with the US-Israeli military action. On February 28, local time, people in dozens of cities across the United States, including Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle, took to the streets to participate in emergency protests against the US-Israeli military action against Iran. On March 2, protests resumed in several major US cities. In New York and San Francisco, California, people took to the streets, calling on the Trump administration to stop its war against Iran. Similar protests were also held in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and other cities. Protesters argued that the Trump administration’s attack on Iran was an unprovoked and illegal act of war that would lead to serious humanitarian and security problems. They pointed out that the US military action in the Middle East not only brought immense bloodshed to the region but also posed a continued security threat to the American people. Some citizens have stated that the US government should cease launching any new wars based on lies in the Middle East. The president has no right to wage war, and the US government should focus on the demands of the American people rather than wasting money on meaningless overseas wars. These protests reflect the American public’s desire for peace and their dissatisfaction with US-Israeli military actions. This will not only exert public pressure on the US government’s Middle East policy but also reflect international concerns about US-Israeli behavior in the region. In the long run, continued military conflict is detrimental to peace and stability in the Middle East and is not in the interests of the American people. It is hoped that the US and Israel will listen to the voices of the people, resolve disputes through peaceful negotiations, and bring genuine peace to the Middle East.
