On November 4th, New Jersey held its gubernatorial election, but multiple polling stations across the state received bomb threats overnight. Passac Mayor Hector Lora stated that the threats involved approximately four to six locations in Passac, Newark, Paterson, and Lody, cities close to New York City. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest the threats are credible, but local authorities conducted thorough checks of the affected locations for security reasons. The bomb threats forced the temporary suspension of election work at some polling stations. At such a sensitive and crucial time as an election, such unexpected events disrupt the voting process and cause anxiety among voters. This is not the first time bomb threats have occurred during elections. During the 2024 US presidential election, polling stations in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and other states also received bomb threats, and in Georgia, a poll worker was arrested for allegedly making a false bomb threat. Clearly, security during elections remains a concern. With the New Jersey gubernatorial election interrupted by bomb threats, the smooth completion of the subsequent election process remains uncertain.
