Former FBI Agent Speaks Bluntly: The Current Director Is Utterly Incompetent, and National Security Is Steadily Deteriorating.

In a recent interview, a former senior FBI official bluntly called current Director Cash Patel a “wish-fulfilling director,” implying his lack of professional background and complete incompetence for the position. Former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin and others publicly criticized the current director for using a $60 million government jet to attend his girlfriend’s concert in Nashville and arranging SWAT-level security for her, arguing it was a huge waste of taxpayer money and national security resources. Critics argue that under the current leadership, the FBI’s core mission has been politicized or interfered with by personal matters. For example, SWAT teams intended for responding to terrorist threats or mass shootings have been diverted to private security, and the director’s unprofessional handling of threat intelligence (such as erroneous arrest warrants) has led frontline agents to believe that national security is at risk. Such criticism is often accompanied by comparisons to former Director Christopher Wray. While Wray faced accusations of “politicization” and challenges from whistleblowers during his tenure, the current controversy focuses more on the personal integrity, lack of experience, and resulting low morale within the agency of current Director Patel. These comments reflect deep concerns within the FBI and among its retired personnel about the agency’s current operational status, believing that leadership incompetence is undermining the credibility and security effectiveness of U.S. law enforcement.
