Trump says he has found a ‘very wealthy’ buyer for TikTok
US President Trump will extend the “sell or ban” ban on TikTok for the third time. He has previously said that he is “willing to extend it if necessary.” TikTok seems quite confident about the situation and launched a new AI tool this week. The US government’s ban on the short video platform TikTok was originally scheduled to take effect on June 19, and now it may be postponed again. The ban requires TikTok to sell its US business, otherwise it will be banned from operating in the United States. The Trump administration has pushed for this legislation on the grounds of national security, but Trump himself said in a recent interview with NBC that he “has a little affection for TikTok” and is willing to give more time, “If it needs to be extended, I am willing to extend it.” Trump emphasized that a group of buyers are ready to pay TikTok owner ByteDance “a lot of money” to purchase TikTok’s US business. He also repeatedly downplayed the risks facing TikTok and said he is still confident that a buyer will be found.
